The state of Gujarat is also famous for its creativity and Indian handicrafts, which are popular not just in India but all over the globe. Similarly, Delhi is the capital city of India with a charm of its own. From cultural heritage to swanky locations, Delhi has it all for the tourists. It is Ashram Express that successfully connects these two amazing places and helps locals as well as the tourists to get from one place to another through timely manner and with ease.
Catering Information –
The best part, about travelling with trains, is the food that one can enjoy their journey. Although Ashram Express does not have a pantry car facility like many other trains operated by Indian Railways, there is always an option of getting off several stations enroute to enjoy the local culinary delights sold by the vendors on the stations. The train also receives many local sellers that sell refreshments throughout your journey.
Coach Information –
Ashram Express is equipped with a 1st Class AC coach, which is the priciest option for travel on this train and lowest being the general unreserved category. In between, there is AC 2nd Class or 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier and sleeper class option. In case of higher or lower demand, this coach composition can be changed as decreed by the Indian Railways.
Service Information –
This train runs every day between Old Delhi Station in Delhi and Ahmadabad in Gujarat covering a total distance of 951 kilometres within 15-16 hours. Since the average speed of the train is more than 55 kmph, the train has been designated as a superfast and is applicable for an extra surcharge as per the Indian Railways rule. This is the reason this train is prioritised over other passenger trains, local trains as well as the freight trains so that it can arrive its destination within the stipulated time.
Ashram Express departs from Old Delhi at 15.20 and arrives at Ahmadabad at 07.40 the next day. On the reverse direction, it departs Ahmadabad at 18.30 and arrives in Old Delhi at 10.10 in the morning.
Due to this train’s short route and economical fare, it is preferred by most travellers as the best option between these two locations. If not booked in advance, you are unlikely to get a reservation at the last minute!
