Palam is an assembly constituency in the National Capital Territory and is one of the huge residential colonies of south-west Delhi. The development of the region began in the 1970s and it is continuing at a furious pace.

The Palam Railway Station (Station code PM) is in Northern Railway’s Old Delhi Division. It is on the Delhi-Rewari –Jaipur line. The number of platforms at the Palam Railway Station is 3 and as many as 39 trains operate from the station every day. Train service connects Palam Railway Station to cities like Farukh Nagar, Rewari, Delhi Sarai Rohilla, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Porbandar, Malani, Jaisalmer, Meerut, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Bhuj, Barmer, and Jodhpur.

Palam is scheduled to get an underground Delhi Metro station, near the Palam police station under the third phase of the metro project. The metro station is likely to be commissioned in 2016. At present, Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station is the nearest metro station from Palam Railway Station. The travel time between the two is about ten minutes.

The popular non-vegetarian dishes include fish fry, Kakori kebabs, cream chicken kebabs, chicken tikka rolls, chicken changezi , chicken pepper steak, dal meat, tomato fish, chicken pakodas, butter chicken, and mutton mince. The preferred sweets are kadha Prasad, badam halwa, kancha golla, saffron lassi, chocolate pudding, jalebis, and Karachi halwa.
