Nellore Railway Station is located in Nellore, a district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Until 13^th century, before the district came to be referred to as Nellore was known as Vikrama Simhapuri. Nellore, the name is derived from ‘nelli’, a Tamil word that means ‘rice.’ This is also an inkling of the fact that paddy cultivation used to be the most prevalent occupation in the area.
