The Parsuram Express is a famous train in southern India. The train runs between two major cities of the south, which are Mangalore city of Karnataka State and Thriuvanthapuram, the capital city of Kerala state. This train is also known as a day train as it covers the journey mainly during day time. This Express train is under the category of superfast train with UP number 16650 from Nagarcoil Junction of Tamil Nadu State. The train starts its journey from Nagarcoil at 4.20. It is a daily train and hence reservation is not a big problem, however, there is a facility for Tatkal booking also for passengers who cannot book tickets in advance. The train has two AC chair car coaches, one first class coach and one second class sitting coach. There are other second sitting coaches which can be boarded by the tickets available at the counter.

Samata Express is one of the many trains operated by Indian Railways and managed by Northern Railways. It is a daily service train categorized as superfast express plying between New Delhi and Vishakhapatnam.

Organized by the East Coast Railway’s Waltair Division, this train has been named in the remembrance of Samata Festival, which is held in Vishakhapatnam every year. Since 2011, the frequency of the trains has been increased to five trips every week. The name of the train in Sanskrit or Telugu language means ‘equality’ and has been of great significance to the culture of Vishakhapatnam.

Samata Express is a train that has been a popular choice for travellers because of its seamless connectivity and high speed, which allows them to cover great distance in short amount of time. Ashram Express belongs to Western Railways and has been categorised as a superfast train running between Old Delhi and Ahmadabad. Due to its popularity, this train runs every day on its designated schedule carrying thousands of passengers from the Capital City to Gujarat. 12916/Ashram SF Express plies from Old Delhi to its destination and for the reverse direction, the number changes to 12915. There are about 20 stops between the two destinations, and it takes over 15 hours as the travel time, to and from old Delhi.

Service Information –

This train runs every day between Old Delhi Station in Delhi and Ahmadabad in Gujarat covering a total distance of 951 kilometres within 15-16 hours. Since the average speed of the train is more than 55 kmph, the train has been designated as a superfast and is applicable for an extra surcharge as per the Indian Railways rule. This is the reason this train is prioritised over other passenger trains, local trains as well as the freight trains so that it can arrive its destination within the stipulated time.

Ashram Express departs from Old Delhi at 15.20 and arrives at Ahmadabad at 07.40 the next day. On the reverse direction, it departs Ahmadabad at 18.30 and arrives in Old Delhi at 10.10 in the morning.

Due to this train’s short route and economical fare, it is preferred by most travellers as the best option between these two locations. If not booked in advance, you are unlikely to get a reservation at the last minute!

This train can be considered to be akin to Andhra Pradesh Express and Karnataka Express, which connect their respective state capitals to New Delhi. Vasco Da Gama is the nearest railway junction to Panjim, as Goa’s capital remains out of reach by train.

Goa Express: A Historical Perspective –

Goa Express started operating in 1987. Thus, it began running even before the evolution of Konkan Railways. The rail links were meter gauge in Goa at the time, and Goa Express had to run with a broad gauge and meter gauge counterpart. The section between Vasco Da Gama and Miraj was meter gauge and between Miraj and Hazrat Nizamuddin was broad gauge.

At the time of inauguration, Goa Express was allotted the number 2479/2480 with Delhi division of Northern Railways responsible for its upkeep. After the entire journey had become broad gauge, maintenance was handed over to the Hubli Division and the train was allotted its present number.

The Rajya Rani are simply a series of daily and tri-weekly express trains, launched to improve connectivity between the state capital and major cities of the state. The first train in the series of Rajya Rani Trains was the Mysore-Bangalore Rajya Rani Express that started its service on July 01 2011.   • Cluster booking/ duplicate ticket/ BPT/ modifications are not allowed.
  • Booking of general quota is applicable only.
  • These trains do not have upgradation option.
  • Any of the valid Identity Cards is to be produced by passengers for verification purpose during the journey for PRS ticket and e-ticket.
  • Such train services, depending upon demand pattern might run at peak seasons such as summer rush, winter rush, Holi rush, Dussehara rush as well as other occasions as decided jointly by Zonal Railways’ CCMs and COMs.
  • These trains do not have any kind of composition in it like 2nd sitting coach/ general class/ executive class/ First Class/ First AC.

There Has Been Proposal For Three Such Train Service Types:

  • Fully AC services without/with stoppages: Its Base Price – (Tatkal charges + Rajdhani base fare)
  • Mixed services not having enroute commercial stoppages based upon mixed Duronto pattern: Its Base Price – (Tatkal charges + base fare of Mixed Duronto).
  • Mixed services having few enroute stoppages and running as Express/Mail: Its Base Price: (Tatkal charges + Express/Mail base fare).
  • Besides the above, Zonal Railways has planned to introduce fully AC Shatabdi or Double Decker types, if there is huge demand with respective train category fares given
  • These trains run upon dynamic fare system. There are also there charges to be availed in full, added up to the base fare such as catering charge, reservation charge, service tax, S/F, etc.
  • Current booking counters are to be offered with vacant berth, during charting time. Current counters having tickets is to be sold at last price for the class along with supplementary charges such as super fast charges, reservation charges, applicable service tax, catering charges and superfast charges.
  • At the time of booking, passengers would be displayed with information, if lower class fare becomes higher than that of higher class for exercising the option to choose travelling by high class.
  • Fare is not to see any downward movement.
  • Flat cancellation charge of Rs. 100 for AC – 2 Tier / First Class, Rs. 90 for AC – 3 Tier / 3 Economy / AC chair car, Rs. 60 for Sleeper class is to be provided for RAC / Confirmed tickets before 6 hours of the train’s scheduled departure and to be provided with 50% refund on fare. After that, no fare refund is entitled and is granted only by filing TDR for e-tickets and for PRS counter ticket across counter.
  • Such services are anticipated special trains and above regular train services upon Tatkal fares.
  • It is w.e.f. 01.07.2015 that there has been implementation of the above guidelines by the Indian Railways.

The Maharajas’ Express is operated and owned by the IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation). It is the costliest among luxury trains in the world.

It, usually, operates between October and April. It operates on 5 circuits, traversing more than 12 places across central and North West India, mainly covering the state of Rajasthan.

The Maharaja’s Express was voted twice in a row as the “World’s Leading Luxury Train” at the World Travel Awards of 2012 and 2013. History –

This luxury train service was begun in 2010, March. The IRCTC joined with Cox and Kings Ltd. to sign a joint venture called as Royale Indian Rail tours Ltd. to run the management and functioning of the Maharajas’ Express. However, this joint venture was dissolved in 2011 and the Express is now being managed alone by the IRCTC. Today, it has been the recipient of many awards and is the only train in the world, which has a presidential suite stretching over a whole carriage.

This train has been equipped with modern amenities to provide an extremely pleasant journey to the passenger. The facilities include Wi-Fi, Live television, Pneumatic suspension, dining cars, attached bath room, souvenir shop, bar and lounge. Roll-top baths are found in large cabins as well as spacious sitting rooms.
