The Marudhar Express is a superfast train which connects the city of Jodhpur to Varanasi. It passes through two historical states of India: Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. An express train running between Howrah Junction to Delhi Junction with numbers 13039 up and 13040 down is the most famous Howrah Delhi Janata Express. This is one of the fastest trains after Rajdhani Express that started its first service on 1st of October 1946. The train operating under Eastern Railway starts from Howrah Junction stops at Delhi junction covering a distance of 1,538 kms.

This is one of the daily running trains which do not have any AC reservation boarding service except having 2nd Class seating arrangements and general unreserved category. Just the seating and not any sleeping arrangement is provided in the train. There is no catering facility being provided by Indian Railway for the passengers, for which they have to avail the paid catering from the stations. The train completes the journey in 39 to 40 hours running with an average speed of 55 km /hr and the fare does not include a super fast surcharge. Basically, the train carries about 8 high capacity parcel vans that are replaced by 13131/32 Kolkata Anand Vihar Express.

The route of the train is completely electrified with rolling down on standard Indian Railway coaches on a track gauge of 1,676 mm. Speed of the train is around 110 km in maximum and 39.44 km/h in minimum including the halting points. This route across Bardhaman Junction, Mokama Junction, Asansol Junction, Patna Junction, Mugalsarai Junction, Allahabad Junction, Tundla Junction and reaches the last stoppage of Delhi Junction. Rather it can be said that the train covers the state of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi taking 3 days in total to cover its entire journey. The train service is specifically designed for the convenience of poor and lower middle class section of the society.
