Containing the rush during the festivals in August and September

The month of August is a busy time when it comes to considering the festivals that are celebrated in India. Quite a few number of festivals fall during this month. The country also observes a national holiday on the 15^th of August.

Of the many religious festivals that are celebrated during this time of the year, the two most important ones are Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami. On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie rakhi on their brothers’ wrists and even exchange gifts. Siblings who stay in different cities try to meet up to celebrate this important festival together. Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Krishna. People generally conduct pujas at their homes and dress up the idols of a baby Krishna is new and colourful attires. For some north Indian families, this is a very important festival, and hence, they prefer to spend it at home with their respective families. If the holiday for 15^th August falls on a Friday or Monday, people also try and manage an extended weekend and travel back home.

Thus, during this time of the year, there is a general rush for train tickets throughout the month. If by any chance Ganesh Chaturthi falls sometime in August, then the rush increases two folds. In order to tackle the mad rush, the Indian Railways, thus, run a few special trains during this month. These All special trains help in dividing the rush and make it easier for people to travel back home to their families. These trains also come extremely in handy if you have to get a few last minute bookings done.
