As per Indian Railways officials, there has been a significant increase in the monthly limit of IRCTC ticket booking process and is been increased from 6 to 12 in number. This facility is only and only for Aadhaar verified passengers. This initiative is been an innovative and good approach especially to encourage travellers and passengers to link their Aadhaar numbers on IRCTC using their online accounts. This facility is been effective from 26th October, 2017.
Adding to this, in accord to IRCTC officials, the passengers can continue to opt for old services till they do not validate and link their Aadhaar numbers and continue to book up to 6 tickets in a month. If the booking number increases and goes beyond 6, then the Aadhaar number needs to be updated of that user in the IRCTC platform, as per an official. To avail and use this facility, make sure to read on the following steps.
- Open IRCTC portal, visit ‘My Profile’ category on the same, where a user requires to click on the ‘Aadhaar KYC’ to update his or her Aadhaar numbers.
- As soon as a user updates his or her Aadhaar number and clicks, an OTP – One Time Password will get generated and sent to the mentioned mobile number that is been linked with your Aadhaar number. The mobile number needs to be mentioned for the verification purpose.
- Adding to this, Aadhaar number of anyone who is been accompanying the travel can also be mentioned and updated under the master list and make sure whatever number you are mentioning will get validated through an OTP – One Time Password.
- Users have the facility to store and save the verified passengers names who, have been accompanying during the travel under their master list and do remember that this should be actually done prior to the beginning of any process in order to do booking for more than 6 tickets in a month, as per the officials.
- At present, under general quota, 6 passengers can be booked or reserved on a single ticket and under Tatkal bookings, 4 passengers can be booked or reserved on a single ticket using IRCTC portal.
